Dedicated to my father
Robertas Ofats Zukauskas ... Jan 1914 - Dec 1991
This software is written to share GOD's Word. Please feel free to
distribute this to everyone! It is copyrighted, (c) 1993 by
Robert Zee, but as long as you do not change or delete any files,
you are free to distribute the complete set of KBIB_xxx.ZIP
files, provided you do not sell, or charge a fee in excess of the
nominal cost of duplication or transmission.
This software is being revised (as you read this), to provide the
latest and best version of this software. Here are the naming
conventions:
KBIB_xxx.ZIP ... software and special files
where "xxx" = VERSION
ie. this version = 31 (means 3.1)
KBIB_KJx.ZIP ... Bible files (x ranges from 1 to 5)
unless changes are needed,
these files should not change
due to version changes, above.
KBIB_KJV.ZIP ... All 5 files may be zipped to fit
on one 3-1/2 HD diskette. This
replaces KBIB_KJ1.ZIP through
KBIB_KJ5.ZIP
If you have our first version, please download all the files.
KBIB_KJ1.ZIP, KBIB_KJ2.ZIP, KBIB_KJ3.ZIP, KBIB_KJ4.ZIP, and also
KBIB_KJ5.ZIP contain the Bible, in text mode, but take up less
space. (KBIB_KJV contains all five of these files and fits on one
3-1/2 HD diskette). They are still readable by most word
processors.
If you have version 2.0 or later, you only need the file
KBIB_31.ZIP. The Bible files have not been changed.

│ INSTRUCTIONS │
└──────────────┘
Note: If you already have a KBible version 2.0, or newer,
then please skip to step 3: below.
PKZ204g is required to unzip the necessary files.
Step1:
To get KBIBLE to run, you need to make two (2) directories:
\KBIBLE
\KBIBLE\KJV
Step2:
To do this: from the dos prompt, type:
md\KBIBLE
md\KBIBLE\KJV
Step 3:
You need to copy the file: KBIB_31.ZIP to the directory \KBIBLE
and then unzip it:
PKUNZIP KBIB_31
Step 4:
You need to copy the files: KBIB_KJ1.ZIP, KBIB_KJ2.ZIP, KBIB_KJ3.ZIP,
KBIB_KJ4.ZIP, and also KBIB_KJ5.ZIP (if you have KBIB_KJV.ZIP, this
includes the five aforementioned files) to the directory
\KBIBLE\KJV
and then unzip them:
PKUNZIP *
After all the files are unzipped, you can delete the *.ZIP files to
save space on your hard drive.
To run KBIBLE, issue the dos commands:
cd\KBIBLE
KBIBLE
To print this User's Guide, issue the dos commands:
cd\KBIBLE
PRINT KBIBLE.DOC

KBible version 3.1
KBible remembers your place like a Bookmark. Each time you start
the software will begin where in the same file you last read.
With Study Guides, you have the option of Keeping Compiled
Study Guides on disk (save compiling time, costs disk space)
or treating compiled study guides as temporary files (saves disk
space since only the last compiled file is kept). From the
Study Guide Menu, Select O=Options to change this option. The
default is to Keep Commpiled Study Guides on disk.
Comments can be added to the end of any line in a Study Guide.
At the end of a line, add a space and a semi-colon ( ;) and
the comments will be invisible. This is a big help when writing
study guides, especially when they get large. Blank lines are
ignored and also, the the first lines(s) can be blank, or have
comment(s), before the TITLE line.
When starting KBIBLE: ERROR MSG 003 (DOS ERROR -- PATH NOT FOUND).
When users didn't make a subdirectory \KBIBLE\KJV for the Bible
files, the program would crash and issue this error message. It
is still necessary to make the directories, but now, this error
is trapped, and loads the Users Guide (file is KBIBLE.DOC) that
includes instructions on how to install the software and files.
When Removing Study Guides, if an invalid DOS Filename, drive,
path, etc., was given, to save the Study Guide to disk file, an
error number was given and then crashed. Now, errors are trapped
so crash doesn't occur. Common errors are explained; unusual errors
display the DOS error number. After the error message, you return
to the Study Guides menu after a delay of about five seconds.
KBible version 3.0
Study Guides compile faster and are easier to make for multiple
verses. Up to 99 Study Guides can be active (was only 9 before).
Comments and notes can be included in Study Guides. When they
are compiled, comments (and blank lines) are discarded from
from the Reading File, while notes are included.
Write (new feature) allows the file you are reading to be sent
to your printer, or to a disk file.
KBible version 2.0
The original version of KBIBLE had a few minor bugs. These have
been eliminated. Bible files have been modified, also, so they
run faster, and take less space on your hard drive. Study Guides
have been introduced. Select by pressing [S] key while reading
the Bible.
┌──────────┐
│ FEATURES │
└──────────┘
KBible starts you in the text of the first book of the Bible. To
read other books, just hit the [Esc] key to get a menu for books.
From there, you can select any book of the Bible you want to
read.
There are many topics in the INDEX. To view verses that are
related to the topic you wish to read, press the [I] key, while
reading the Bible. The search for your choice of topic always
starts after the place you are currently reading in the Bible.
To find "all" references to your choice of "topics" you must be
reading the first book, at the first verse. (Plans are to make
the index expanded to include multiple indexes and user-generated
indexes).
STUDY GUIDES (up to 99 can be online). Press [S] while reading
the Bible for a list of Study Guides. Use the up and down arrow,
PageUp, PageDown, Home and End keys to pick your selection. Hit
Enter key to select a Study Guide to read. It might take a little
time to compile some Study Guides--the Bible references are loaded
from the Bible to be included for your Study Guide to Read.
Some study guides are included with KBible version 3.0. You
can also make your own, or share with others. Study Guides that
can be [A]dded must have a strictly text (ASCII) format, and also
conform to the following conventions:
Column#
1 1 2 2 3 3 4
Line# ....5....0....5....0....5....0....5....0
1 | TITLE of the Study Guide (max 40 chars)
2 | ; comment (not compiled)
. | [Notes] (are compiled)
. | BBB CH:VS (single verse)
. | BBB CH:VS-VS (multiple verses)
.
End |
The first line must be used only for the TITLE (only 40 wide).
Lines 2 through the end can be used for comments, notes, and
verses, or they can be blank lines.
Comments can contain any information you like. They are not
compiled, and are invisible to the KBible Reader. The first
character, in column one, must be ; (a semi-colon).
Comments can also be added at the end of any line. On any line,
as soon as ' ;' (space and semi-colon) is found, the rest of the
line is ignored. Be careful to not use the ' ;' in the TITLE or
[Notes], so as not to lose the rest of the line. Since a ';'
is normally NOT preceeded by a space in normal usage, it can be
used within the TITLE or [Notes] as long as you don't preceed it
with a space.
Notes can contain any information you like. The are compiled
and are displayed with the Bible versers to the KBible reader.
When compiled, a blank line in added before and after the note.
Since notes are indented, they should not be more than 75 wide.
The first character, in column one, must be [ (a left bracket).
It is suggested that you include one at the end of the line,
but it is not required.
Single verses can be included. Replace BBB CH:VS as follows:
"BBB" is a three letter abbreviation of a book of the Bible.
This must be correct, according to the conventions adopted
for KBile books of the Bible (see appendix).
"CH" is the number of the chapter. It must be a valid number.
"VS" is the number of the verse. It must be a valid number.
Multiple verses can be included. Replace BBB CH:VS-VS as follows:
"BBB" is a three letter abbreviation of a book of the Bible.
This must be correct, according to the conventions adopted
for KBile books of the Bible (see appendix).
"CH" is the number of the chapter. It must be a valid number.
"VS" is the number of the first verse. It must be a valid
number.
"-VS" is the number of the last verse. It must be a valid
number, and it must be preceeded by - (a minus, or dash).
Notice that the BOOK must start in column one and is followed by a
single space. No other spaces are allowed. Some error checking is
done, but it is necessary to follow the format correctly.

More features will be added soon: things like selective copy to
disk or to printer, and multiple and user-generated indexes.
Also, user ideas are considered for future releases.

To Christians everywhere:
First, pray for me. I often don't do everything right.
Second, share this software with everyone, especially
non-believers.
Finally, encourage me. Tell me what things I should fix, or
change, to make this computer Bible better. Tell me if you like
it. Tell me if you don't.
If you would like for me to keep you on my mailing list, and
send you the latest version on disk as soon as it is ready,
please let me know. Postage and supplies cost almost $5 US
(even more outside USA) to ship by diskette(s). Please mention
diskette type (5-1/4 HD or 3-1/2 HD) and include $US to cover
the cost of sending to you.
If you have Internet access, and would like for me to keep you
on my Email list so you can find out about the latest version,
then please send me Email at: rzee@cs.umr.edu and mention that
you would like to be on my KBIBLE EMAIL LIST.
Your comments are appreciated!
Best wishes,
Rob
PS: This is NOT a for profit venture. My only interest is to
help everyone share the Word, electronically, via computer.
